Introduction to Radiation Oncology
The department of Radiation Oncology provides state-of-the-art radiation treatment to cancer patients. Department of Radiation Oncology is equipped with the latest Linear accelerator Varian Truebeam SVC, Varian GammaMedPlus Brachytherapy, and a dedicated CT simulator.
In addition we have facility of PETCT and MRI based planning. True beam SVC, capable of delivering a wide array of treatments like 3DCRT, VMAT, IGRT, IMRT, SRS and SBRT. Our aim is to integrate clinical excellence and research to achieve best possible outcomes for the patients. At Globe Healthcare the department of Radiation Oncology is supported by senior and experienced Radiation Oncologists, clinical associates, medical physicists, medical technologists, trained nurses and other paramedical staff. The members of the department of Radiation oncology work in close collaboration with the other oncologists and physicians to track the progress of the patient and ensure an efficient and successful treatment to the patient.
- Brachytherapy
The radiation source is placed internally near the tumor, where it delivers radiation at close range and destroys the tumor challenging to treat by other methods. It is beneficial in treating cancers of the neck nodal recurrence, cervix, vagina, and eye with minimal side effects.
We have a facility for intracavitary and interstitial brachytherapy dedicated to the minor operation theatre for brachytherapy procedures.
A stringent quality assurance (QA) program and features like the “Online Portal Imaging and online CT imaging, EPID (KV & MV)” to ensure efficient and precise radiotherapy treatment delivery and verification.
